News from the family

Laurence: I worked in our friend, Charles’ shop for some business experience. It was actually very enlightening, seeing the most popular products, how they do their accounts. Unfortunately the best sellers were probably the vodka/ gin sachets that cost only 13p but are enough to get drunk. Cigarettes – which are about 20 times cheaper here, were also best sellers but customer only bought two or three at a time. I learnt a huge amount on top of this but don’t have time or space for it.
Only two weeks till my exams so I’m studying a lot. I’m mulling over which A levels to do but probably wont decide until I have gone to a college open day when I come back for a few days at the beginning of July.

Maria: Over Easter I had a great, if chilly time in Berlin with the TA, I learnt a lot. Also got to see family and Matt which was nice :) I've run in quite a few races recently - the Hornsea 1/3 marathon and I'm competing in the Hull 'Champagne league' a competition for Hull running clubs and have the Beverly 10k coming up.
I'm going to be working for the uni soon showing secondary students round and teaching them what university is about to encourage them to consider Higher Education so I'm looking forward to that.
I've had a lot of uni work in the last month but thankfully have managed to get all my essays in, so now just 3 exams to do to complete second year! Bring on the summer! :D

Jerome:  Hey! The past couple of months have been really busy. I decided to take advantage of the various trips going on at college and so I've been skiing and I'm going to Czech Republic for an Agricultural visit in May. Skiing was brilliant although I did get severely sun burnt thanks to my carelessness and some gorgeous weather!
I also went to Tanzania at the start of April to get involved in a planting trees project ran by YWAM. I preached in a church on the Easter Sunday on the 'What the Cross Means to You?' which was a pretty cool experience. The interesting thing was that I felt I learnt more about god myself through preaching as I had to prepare and use relevant bible verses.
College is going well and the student life isn't treating my wallet so well. however I'm just pressing on to try and achieve my grades for university. My next task is to apply for Student Finance and decide which university to go to. Decisions, Decisions agghhhh. Bye!
